This year’s resolution is simple on paper, but I’m sure it will be a challenge to keep up with, given my track record; i must be creative everyday.
I’m not being silly, I’m not saying i must make complete works of art every day, just dedicate at least 20 minutes everyday to doing something creative. It could be drawing, Painting, sculpting, textiles or makeup, as long as i am making full use of my creative outlet.
So to kick off 2026 i went big.
Almost immediately after watching Frankenstein i knew what needed to be done, i must have my own creature.
This time i wanted to try something different with the body, the fabric bodies are cute but they don’t hold poses very well. I chose to wrap the wire armature with chunky yarn, i then felted on top of the yarn around the torso area and the tops of the legs and arms, and felted some feet and hands, securing them with more yarn.

I had a little experiment with resin for this project, i knew i wanted his eyes to be a bit more expressive than my usual dolls, focusing on his one reflective eye. I got two buttons that were the same size and shape, one brown and one black, on the brown button i just added a blob of uv resin which brought out the reddish tone in the brown button. On the black button i added a yellow gem then covered it with the resin. I’m very happy with his eyes, they photograph very well.

His clothes were pretty straightforward for the most part, shirt, pants, little wraps for his hands and feet, i made his boots by wrapping a circle of fabric with twine. The main event is the coat! Essentially cutting the pieces, burning the pieces, sewing, burning some more and weathered it and added details with paint.

The final steps were the face up and the hair, but the process there hasn’t changed much.

I’m absolutely thrilled with this doll, it’s obscene how obsessed i am. An excellent start to the year
Other than that, i have been learning to crochet, no luck on the plushie kits as of yet, i have not mastered working into a magic ring, so i took a step back and tried out some hat tutorials. I am very happy with these, i dont think ill ever need to buy a woolly hat ever again
