Sincerest apologies :0

Yes, i have missed three whole weeks worth of updates for no good reason, the shock, the horror!

In truth, i have still been doing my little daily creative tasks, they’ve just been slow. I’ve been enrolled on a course to aid my job seeking ventures and its taking up too much time to be able to make a great deal of progress on anything quickly.

To start of this apologetic post, i present to you some doodles:

I have, however progressed nonetheless, starting off with the project that’s still in progress; the lovely red waistcoat. Since the last update I’ve started mapping out the painted elements of the design on the front, I’ve gone with heather and bluebells, i’ll then felt the little mice onto the fabric for some textural interest. On the back i plan on adding some painted thistles. I’ve mapped out the bluebells and heather designs with a white fabric paint base to make sure the colour is nice and vibrant as I noticed whilst painting the octopus jacket these paints are quite transparent.

In other news, my lovely friend group and I have decided to do Sanrio cosplays for the next con after party we wind up in, as pompompurin was already taken, i of course went for a nice, niche character; U*SA*HA*NA, a delightful little patchwork inspired bunny. Naturally, i decided to do too much for this plan, and Frankenstein-ed a monstrous wig together for the occasion.

This monstrosity is made from;

-one cropped blonde wig

-harvested strands from the undersides of two different longer wigs

-the bulk of one blue wig and one pink wig

-six different yarns

-and a dream

Now, whilst this wig as a whole is incredibly impractical and gave me a headache after a measly hour of wear, i have installed in it, a few fail safes; the ears, heavy and unstable as they are, are attached to a headband pinned to the wig, and the ridiculous blue and pink braids are attached with comically oversized safety pins; meaning both of these cumbersome and impractical elements are detachable! I made sure that the base wig still keeps to u*sa*ha*na’s vibe, the buns that the braids attach to are made of blue and pink yarn, the yellow yarn braids at the back tie in with the characters face colour.

I actually made the flower out of paper to act as a placeholder whilst i did the first try on, just to better envision the look as a whole, with the intent to make or source a better option nearer to the con. I ended up loving the paper flower. Not very practical for a night of partying though, i wanted this flower to be durable, and to last so i could reuse it in the future, so, conducting a little experiment, i coated the thing in resin! It took a few coats but i think it’ll do the trick.

And finally, the latest venture I decided to undertake: Simon.

That’s right folks! Katie decided to do a quick drag cosplay of Markiplier.

Now, I’m a realist, i went into this project sceptical… i understood that i will never look like the man that has been my definition of perfection for twelve long years of my life, but the worm in my brain was telling me i needed to dress up as his iron lung character and make a silly video to “In the Navy” by the village people. Enough said.

I, as expected, do not look like Markiplier, but still, i had a jolly good time. Perhaps i should just become a drag king, i honestly think i suit a beard.
