Sculpting mania

I think this blog will be a once a month deal-i-o now, it seems silly to do it weekly, since I’m now in the habit of flitting from one project to another, most weeks i don’t have any actually finished work to show.

Firstly for this update, the waistcoat; after finishing painting the bluebells and heather on the front of the waistcoat, i decided to leave the design there, i like how dainty and delicate this design is, i really didn’t want to overcomplicate it.

I have also developed sculpting mania. I long to play with clay!

First up, a friend commissioned a dog sculpture, i initially did it the way i usually go about it, using a tinfoil base, however, this particular clay tends to shrink an awful lot and crack, so i unfortunately had to re sculpt him with solid clay, not ideal, but that’s what were working with i suppose.

I also wanted to experiment with making my anti bears into mini sculptures, planning out how to make thinks that i can sell in a stall at some point, making fake taxidermy style minis with air dry clay.

I’m making more dolls too! Simon from iron lung, Ludwig, Frankie stein, sally face, sally (nightmare before Christmas) and Blackbeard.

The last work in progress is the me bear, which is actually in its final stages at last! Just gotta do the tutu, paint the face and make the hairrrr.
